Graphic concept and style
Comics, graphics and street art merged to create a unique work of art
The spherical shape of the work and the dynamism of the intermediate graphics take the reader from one panel to another, exactly as if he were flipping through a comic book. The Golden Sacred Heart is the starting point of the three panels, that describe chronologically Maradona’s life starting from the suburban barrio in Buenos Aires, passing through the period in which he played for Boca Juniors and finally stopping at his debut at the 1982 World Cup with the Argentina national team.
The style is inspired by the great Argentinian masters of comics such as Breccia, Mandrafina, Altuna, Lopez and blends perfectly with colors and graphics that wink at street art, an artistic genre born in the streets as an evolution of graffiti.
Graphic and iconic elements

Sacred heart
Symbol of worship and adoration. It refers to the secular holiness of Maradona and to his heart, which is said to be preserved as a relic

10
The soccer player’s iconic number.

Thunderbolt
Associated with strength and power, the thunderbolt is the weapon of Zeus, the father of gods in Greek mythology.

Gold Pentagons
The classic black pentagons turn into golden ones, a clear reference to the “Pibe de Oro”.

Hexagons
They are characterised by a typographical grid that recalls the productions of popular comics, typical of the years in which the story is set.

“Los Cebollitas” Cartoon
A young Diego in the Argentinos Juniors team “Los Cebollitas” taking a shot on goal.

Boca Juniors Cartoon
The protagonist wearing the “Boca Juniors” shirt, runs towards the reader. In the background, his beloved Buenos Aires.

Closure
The headed soccerball in the third panel goes back to the central sacred heart, through the kinetic lines.
